To perform a SIM swap on Cell C, there is no dedicated USSD code solely for SIM swapping, but you can use the Cell C self-service system and call center options to manage the process.[3]
Steps to do a SIM swap on Cell C:
- Purchase a new Cell C starter pack and register (RICA) it with your details.[3]
- Insert the new SIM card into your phone, but do not use it yet.[5]
- Dial 135 from another phone or from your current SIM, and select option 9 to speak to an agent for SIM swap assistance.[3]
- You can also visit a Cell C store and request a SIM swap in person. The staff will assist you and verify your identity.[3]
- If you have an active self-service PIN set, you may dial 135 and follow the voice prompts to manage the SIM swap. Choose the option for “Manage SIM swap.” If this does not work, use the call center or visit a store.[3]
- Wait the recommended period—typically about 2 hours—before using the new SIM card so your old number and services transfer properly.[3]
Currently available USSD menus such as *147# do not offer a publicized SIM swap option on their menu.[1][6][8]
You may use these menus for other services (like airtime, number check, etc.), but for SIM swap, use the methods above.
