There is no single Standard Bank Instant Money USSD code. Which one you dial depends on the task. For Standard Bank Cellphone Banking, dial *120*2345#; Standard Bank lists “Send Instant Money” among its cellphone banking features. For Instant Money Wallet and instant money voucher management, dial *120*212#; Standard Bank says this route resends vouchers, resets PINs and shows voucher status. (Standard Bank)

So pick by task. Use *120*2345# when you are banking through Standard Bank Cellphone Banking, and *120*212# when the job is the wallet itself: voucher status, resending a voucher, or resetting a voucher PIN. (Standard Bank)

How to Send Money or Withdraw Cash

Requirements

You need the right recipient cellphone number, the amount, enough money for the transaction and its fee, and a collection PIN for the receiver. Standard Bank’s Instant Money terms put the accuracy of that information on the sender, and say neither the bank nor a participating merchant is responsible for losses caused by wrong details.

The release PIN is not your banking PIN. The voucher goes to the receiver; the release PIN comes from you. Give it to anyone other than the receiver and that person can withdraw the money.

Sending from Standard Bank Cellphone Banking

  1. Dial *120*2345# from the cellphone number linked to your Standard Bank profile.
  2. Sign in using the secure prompts on your phone.
  3. Find the payments, send money or Instant Money option in the menu.
  4. Enter the recipient cellphone number carefully.
  5. Enter the amount.
  6. Create or confirm the collection PIN when prompted.
  7. Review the number, amount and fee on screen.
  8. Confirm only when every detail is right.
  9. Send the collection PIN to the intended receiver and nobody else.

Menu wording and option numbers change, so follow what your phone actually shows. Stop if the menu looks unfamiliar, asks for details you do not normally enter, or pushes you to share an OTP, banking password or card PIN.

Sending from Instant Money Wallet USSD

Standard Bank’s wallet route runs: dial *120*212#, select “Send money”, enter the amount, enter the recipient’s cellphone number, create a 4-digit voucher PIN, then give that PIN to the receiver securely. The receiver gets an SMS carrying the 10-digit voucher number. (Standard Bank)

Use this one when you are sending money out of wallet funds rather than straight from a Standard Bank account menu. The wallet also redeems, stores and manages vouchers. (Standard Bank)

How the Receiver Withdraws Instant Money

The receiver normally needs the 10-digit voucher number and the 4-digit collection PIN. Standard Bank’s route: go to a Standard Bank ATM or participating retailer, choose “Withdraw money” or “Instant Money”, enter the voucher number, enter the 4-digit PIN, collect the cash. (Standard Bank)

Redemption points listed by Standard Bank include the Instant Money Wallet at *120*212#, Standard Bank ATMs, and retailers such as Boxer, Checkers, PEP, Pick n Pay, Shoprite, SPAR and Usave. That retailer list changes, so if one store cannot help, check which outlets currently participate rather than assuming the voucher is broken. (Standard Bank)

Resending or Managing a Voucher

For voucher management, dial *120*212#: resend vouchers, reset PIN codes and view voucher status. (Standard Bank)

No voucher SMS at the other end? Use the self-help option on *120*212# and pick resend voucher SMS, or call the Instant Money contact centre on 0860 466 639. (Standard Bank)

Fees, Limits, Expiry, and Reversal Notes

Fees

Standard Bank’s 2026 Instant Money pricing guide lists voucher creation fees for Instant Money Wallet and Standard Bank channels of R10 for R50 to R499, R20 for R500 to R999, and R30 for R1 000 to R5 000. Creating a voucher at a retailer is R9.95. Prepaid airtime or data is R1, and payment to an account is R2.

Pricing moves each year, so read the fee on the USSD screen, app, ATM or retailer system before you authorise anything.

Limits

Under Standard Bank’s Instant Money terms, a sender may send a maximum of R5 000 per day or R25 000 per month to a receiver, and a receiver may collect a maximum of R5 000 per day or R25 000 per month in vouchers. Participating merchants may set lower collection limits of their own.

Wallet users can load up to R25 000 per month, with daily usage of R10 000 per day or up to R25 000 per month, whichever limit is reached first. (Standard Bank)

Expiry

Vouchers are valid for 3 years from the date of issue, and the PIN does not expire while the voucher stays active. That is generous compared with most cardless cash products, but it is not a reason to leave a problem unattended. (Standard Bank)

Cancellation and Reversal

Do not assume every transaction can be undone. Cancellation goes through the same channel that sent the voucher, the initial sending fee is not refunded, the 4-digit collection PIN is required, and only vouchers with the full value remaining can be cancelled at all. (Standard Bank)

Sent it to the wrong number? Move fast, and do not send the PIN to that person. Try to cancel through the sending channel while it is still uncollected, or contact Standard Bank Instant Money support.

Safety Checks Before You Confirm

Read the recipient cellphone number digit by digit before confirming any Standard Bank Instant Money USSD transaction. The terms put that responsibility on you, and warn that wrong information leads to losses you carry.

Then check the amount and the fee on screen. Trust what the menu shows, not what you meant to type.

Keep your banking PIN, card PIN, banking password and OTP private. Standard Bank’s cellphone safety guidance says to reach Cellphone Banking through *120*2345# or *130*2345#, secure the device, sign out when finished, and never store ATM PINs, card numbers or passwords on the phone. (Standard Bank)

Treat the collection PIN like cash. The receiver needs it; a group chat, a screenshot, a public post or a social media inbox does not.

Ignore SMS links offering to “unlock”, “reverse”, “verify” or “upgrade” a voucher. Use Standard Bank’s official USSD routes, the Banking App, Online Banking, an ATM, or the contact centre.

And stop if someone is rushing you, threatening you, or telling you to ignore the warning screens. That pressure is the scam.

Troubleshooting Standard Bank Instant Money USSD Code Problems

The USSD Code Is Not Opening

Check what you typed first: *120*2345# for Cellphone Banking, *120*212# for the wallet and voucher management. Standard Bank also lists *130*2345# for cellphone banking when you have no airtime or data. (Standard Bank)

Still nothing? Check signal, restart the phone, confirm you are on the right SIM, and try again shortly. If a session opens but fails partway, check whether the money already moved before you retry the same payment.

The Voucher SMS Did Not Arrive

Dial *120*212# to resend the notification or check voucher status. The resend option sits under self-help on Cellphone Banking, and the Instant Money contact centre is 0860 466 639. (Standard Bank)

The Receiver Cannot Withdraw

Confirm the receiver has the correct 10-digit voucher number and 4-digit PIN; both are needed at a Standard Bank ATM or participating merchant.

If the ATM will not dispense or the retailer cannot help, call the Instant Money call centre on 0860 466 639 rather than standing at the machine retrying. (Standard Bank)

The PIN Is Blocked or Forgotten

A voucher PIN can be reset before the voucher is used, through the sending channel or the Instant Money team. Standard Bank’s PIN rules: it cannot start with zero, cannot be a sequence such as 1234, and cannot repeat numbers consecutively such as 1122. (Standard Bank)

The Money Was Sent to the Wrong Number

Do not send the collection PIN to that number. If the voucher is uncollected, go back to the channel you sent it from and look for manage or cancel voucher. Only vouchers with the full value remaining can be cancelled, and the sending fee does not come back. (Standard Bank)

FAQ

What should I check before using the Standard Bank Instant Money USSD code?

The code, the recipient cellphone number, the amount, the fee, the voucher number and the collection PIN. Use *120*2345# for Cellphone Banking and *120*212# for the wallet or voucher management. (Standard Bank)

Can an instant money voucher be cancelled or reversed?

Only if it is uncollected and the full value remains. Cancellation runs through the channel that sent it, the original sending fee is not refunded, and you need the 4-digit collection PIN. (Standard Bank)

Do cardless cash codes expire?

Instant Money vouchers are valid for 3 years from the date of issue, and the PIN does not expire while the voucher stays active. (Standard Bank)

Are there fees or limits?

Yes to both. The 2026 pricing guide lists voucher creation fees of R10, R20 or R30 depending on the amount, and the Instant Money terms set sender and receiver limits of R5 000 per day and R25 000 per month. Both change, so check the live confirmation screen before authorising.

What if the code is not working?

Check the code itself, your signal, the SIM, and whether the session timed out. Use *120*2345# for Cellphone Banking and *120*212# for wallet or voucher tasks. For a missing voucher, a failed withdrawal, a blocked PIN or suspected fraud, go through Standard Bank’s official support instead of sharing voucher details with anyone.
