If your FNB eWallet PIN expired, the safe next step depends on which PIN you mean. A temporary ATM PIN or OTPis used to withdraw cash, while an eWallet PIN is used to protect money in the eWallet. FNB says a temporary ATM PIN is for getting cash at an FNB ATM, while the eWallet PIN protects funds in the eWallet. (FNB)
In most “FNB eWallet PIN expired” cases, the withdrawal PIN or OTP has timed out. You do not need to ask someone else for help at the ATM. Request a new PIN through the official FNB eWallet menu, app, WhatsApp channel, or support route.

FNB’s eWallet page says recipients can generate a PIN on the FNB App, WhatsApp, *120*277#, or *120*321# to withdraw at FNB ATMs, AgencyPlus, or selected retailers. It also says temporary OTPs and temporary ATM PINs are valid for 16 hours from the time they are sent. (FNB)
How to Send Money or Withdraw Cash
If your FNB eWallet withdrawal PIN expired
Dial *120*277# from the cellphone number linked to the eWallet. Choose the eWallet access option, select Get Cash, and wait for a new temporary PIN or OTP. FNB’s recipient guide says that if the temporary ATM PIN expires, you can request another one by dialling *120*277# and selecting Get Cash.
If you do not have airtime, do not try random codes found in messages or social posts. FNB’s guide says *130*277# is a free dial string for buying airtime, and that Get Cash must be done through *120*277#.
If you are withdrawing at an FNB ATM
Use the same cellphone number that received the eWallet. Generate the temporary PIN through an official FNB route, then follow the ATM prompts for eWallet services. FNB says the recipient enters their cellphone number and the temporary PIN sent by SMS, then chooses the amount to withdraw. (FNB)
Do not accept help from strangers at the ATM. Do not read the PIN aloud. Do not forward the SMS. If the ATM session fails, cancel the session, move away safely, and retry later or use an official support route.
If you are withdrawing or paying at a retailer
FNB lists selected retailers for eWallet cash access, including Checkers, Shoprite, Usave, Pick n Pay, PEP, Ackermans, and selected SPAR stores. FNB also lists *120*277*4# for generating a one-time PIN to present at participating retail tills. (FNB)
Only enter the OTP or PIN in the official till or card-machine process. A cashier may need your cellphone number for the transaction flow, but you should not hand over your full banking details, banking PIN, OTP for online banking, or eWallet login PIN.
If you are the sender
For cellphone banking, FNB lists the send-Money route as *120*321#, then Send Money, then eWallet, followed by the account, recipient cellphone number, recipient name and surname, amount, and final confirmation. FNB says cellphone banking users must be registered for cellphone banking to use that route. (FNB)
Before you confirm, check the recipient’s cellphone number digit by digit. A wrong-number eWallet is a support problem, not a normal expired PIN problem.
If the FNB eWallet SMS was not received
First confirm that the sender used the correct cellphone number and that the transaction was completed. Then check mobile signal, blocked SMS settings, whether the phone has recently had a SIM swap, and whether the message arrived late.
Do not trust screenshots from another person as a replacement for an official FNB SMS or menu-generated PIN. If the FNB eWallet SMS not received problem continues, use the official eWallet menu, FNB App, verified WhatsApp channel, or eWallet Call Centre.
Fees, Limits, Expiry, and Reversal Notes
FNB says the maximum balance in an eWallet is R14,000. FNB also lists maximum send amounts by channel: R3,000 through online banking, R1,500 through cellphone banking, R15,000 through the FNB App, and R3,000 through WhatsApp. FNB notes that limits may be reduced if the system identifies a transaction as potentially fraudulent. (FNB)
For expiry, the key point is that the temporary withdrawal PIN or OTP can expire while the underlying eWallet issue may still be fixable through a new PIN request. FNB says temporary OTPs and temporary ATM PINs are valid for 16 hours from the time they are sent. (FNB)
For retail purchases or cash at some partners, FNB says the OTP may expire after 16 hours, while selected SPAR purchase flows may use a 30-minute OTP. Check the live screen before relying on any older saved instruction. (FNB)
For reversals, FNB says wallet reversals can be done through the FNB App, cellphone banking on *120*321#, eWallet on WhatsApp at 087 392 5538, or the Contact Centre on 087 392 5538. FNB says users have up to 72 hours from when the funds were sent, reversals may only be possible if the receiving eWallet holder has not used all the money, and users are charged for reversal attempts. (FNB)
FNB’s published eWallet Annual Pricing Guide for 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027 lists a R19.50 fee for reversal of an incorrect send-money-to-eWallet transaction through cellphone banking and WhatsApp, and R85 through contact centre or branch. Because banking fees can change, confirm the fee shown by FNB before approving any reversal.
Safety Checks Before You Confirm
Treat every eWallet PIN, OTP, and withdrawal code as cash. FNB warns that it will never ask users to share a One-Time PIN to reverse pending transactions or block a banking profile, and says users should never disclose sensitive information such as username, password, card details, PIN details, or OTPs to anyone. (FNB)
Before you authorise, withdraw, or reverse anything, check:
- The cellphone number is correct.
- The amount is correct.
- The menu is an official FNB menu, FNB App screen, or verified FNB WhatsApp interaction.
- You are not being pressured to “send the PIN quickly”.
- Nobody is asking for your banking password, banking PIN, card PIN, full card number, OTP, eWallet PIN, or voucher code.
- The withdrawal is happening at a real FNB ATM, AgencyPlus agent, or participating retailer.
- You still have control of the SIM that received the eWallet SMS.
FNB’s eWallet pricing guide says the official WhatsApp number is 087 392 5538 and says users should look for the verified blue tick. Save the number from FNB’s official channel, not from a forwarded message.
Check network/account status
If the code fails, pause before retrying. Check signal, airtime, SIM status, SMS delivery, and whether the phone number is the same number that received the eWallet. If you recently changed your number or lost the phone, use FNB support rather than asking another person to retrieve a PIN.
Retry safely
A fresh PIN should come from FNB, not from another person. Retry through the official menu, the FNB App, or FNB’s official WhatsApp route. If the eWallet menu keeps failing, stop repeated attempts and contact FNB.
Escalation route
Keep the transaction SMS, the sender’s details, the date and time, the cellphone number used, the ATM or retailer attempted, and any error message. These details help when the sender or receiver contacts FNB.
Official support route
FNB lists the eWallet Call Centre as 087 392 5538, Monday to Saturday, 08:00 to 19:00. FNB also lists its fraud reporting number as 087 575 9444 for fraud or theft incidents. (FNB)

FAQs
What should users check before using FNB eWallet PIN expired steps?
Check whether the expired item is the temporary ATM PIN/OTP or the eWallet login PIN. If it is the temporary withdrawal PIN, use the official FNB route to request a new one. If the eWallet login PIN is blocked, forgotten, or not accepted, use the official FNB menu or support route instead of asking another person to reset it.
Can FNB eWallet PIN expired be cancelled or reversed?
An expired withdrawal PIN usually does not mean the transaction must be reversed. First request a fresh withdrawal PIN through the official FNB menu. If money was sent to the wrong number, use FNB’s reversal route quickly, but do not assume the money can definitely be recovered. FNB says reversals are not guaranteed and may carry a charge. (FNB)
Do cardless cash codes expire?
Yes. FNB says temporary OTPs and temporary ATM PINs are valid for 16 hours from the time they are sent. Some retail purchase flows may have different OTP timing, so always follow the current FNB screen or SMS. (FNB)
What happens if a voucher or withdrawal code expires?
Request a new PIN through the official FNB route. Do not reuse an old screenshot, and do not ask someone at the ATM or till to retrieve the PIN for you. If the menu does not generate a new PIN, contact FNB through the eWallet Call Centre or official app support.
Are there fees or limits for FNB eWallet PIN expired?
Requesting a new withdrawal PIN is not the same as reversing a transaction. FNB publishes limits and pricing, but these can change. Confirm the fee or limit shown by FNB before approving any send-money, withdrawal, or reversal action. FNB’s current public eWallet information lists channel send limits and says reversal attempts may be charged. (FNB)
What should users do if FNB eWallet PIN expired is not working?
Use the same SIM that received the eWallet, check signal and airtime, dial the official menu again, and request a fresh PIN. If the eWallet code still does not work, stop retrying and contact FNB through the eWallet Call Centre, the FNB App, or the official WhatsApp route.
Is FNB eWallet PIN expired safe?
It is safe to request a new PIN through official FNB channels. It is not safe to share your eWallet PIN, OTP, banking PIN, banking password, full card number, or voucher code with another person. FNB says users should never disclose sensitive banking details to anyone, not even someone claiming to be a bank official. (FNB)
